2014 Spring Conference - Leading the Profession: Mission Possible

Join Maine educators to share creative ideas and learn from each other, enhance your teaching techniques, broaden your curriculum and enrich the school community. All MEA members, including college students (SEAM), are invited to attend. Select from a wide variety of workshops, where you will:

  • Participate in hands-on engineering and design inquiry lessons using solar ovens
  • Delve into US History and current issues with artist Robert Shetterly through his portraits of Americans Who Tell the Truth
  • Explore ways to get the most out of your iPad
  • Discover how expeditionary learning transformed a Maine middle school
  • Examine digital access issues such as cyberbullying and social media limits
  • Recognize the essential role of educational support professionals in the school community
  • Hear about the evolution of a teacher led school using distributive leadership
  • Learn strategies to motivate underachieving students
  • Engage in a reading lesson using books and movies to develop analytical skills
  • Gain a greater understanding of the effects of poverty on students
  • Take part in activities from the Street Law's Supreme Court Institute
  • Be inspired by many more unique workshops!

7:30am - 9:00am  Registration, Vendors, Continental Breakfast, Welcome Greeting with MEA President Lois Kilby-Chesley and UniServ Director Becky Fernald 
9:00am - 9:15am  Transition to Session I 
 9:15am - 10:45am Session I
9:15am - 12:30pm  All-Morning Sessions 
 10:45am - 11:00am Transition to Session II
11:00am - 12:30pm  Session II
 12:30pm - 1:30 pm Lunch 
 1:30pm - 3:00pm  Session III and SEAM Plenary Session
