The Student Educators Association of Maine (SEAM) chapter at St. Joseph’s College (SJC) held a screening of American Teacher, a pro-public education movie. MEA leaders, State Representative Mike Shaw, and education professor Dr. June Marshall attended and participated in a panel discussion following the film. They are currently planning a workshop with Mary Pinheiro, an SJC alumna and multi-age teacher in North Berwick, who will share interview tips, building resumes and the job search.
The SEAM chapter at the University of Maine at Farmington hosted a successful Read Across America Day at the fitness center. Students in the after-school program listened to Dr. Seuss books, made bookmarks, and completed word searches and mad libs with a Lorax theme. They are also collaborating with Alpha Lambda Delta to host a Worldwide Book Drive.
