The Maine Forensics
Association promotes the development of articulate leadership among
secondary students throughout Maine. Each student has a wide range of
speaking styles from which to select, each with its own particular
emphasis. Exposure to material ranging from contemporary politics to
classical literature fosters the students’ appreciation of great thinkers
and their works. Students are then encouraged to fully master the nuances
of these great works, thereby allowing them to present the original
material, to present an educated analysis of the material, or to debate
the strengths and weaknesses of the material. Presentations, Mock
Congresses and Debates are conducted in a competition format and are
assessed by volunteer judges from throughout the state. |
